Participants in the recent MetLife Stadium double header dominate the list of both NHL jersey sales for February as well as for the season to date. Devils C Jack Hughes leads a top five for last month comprised solely of Devils and Rangers. Additionally, only Blackhawks C Connor Bedard and Maple Leafs C Auston Matthews were able to break the greater N.Y. stranglehold on the top five since Opening Day. ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski noted it “should not be a surprise to anyone” that Bedard, the top pick in last year’s Draft, was atop the season-long list, as “everyone in Chicago buying up their Bedard jerseys to replace their Toews and Kane ones.”
Wyshynski notes both lists not surprisingly were largely impacted “by the incredible merch that they sold at the Stadium Series games at MetLife.” An NHL merchandise sales record was set for the Flyers-Devils game on Feb. 17, only for that to be broken with Rangers-Islanders the next day. ESPN’s Arda Ocal notes the lists are impacted by the “combination of star player and geography and tentpole event.” He added, “Let’s be honest – the Devils’ Stadium Series jerseys were fantasticutah hockey club jerseys yellow.
